Christmas for David this year started out in Spokane, WA to see David's grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends!  This was a trip to enjoy Brian's side of the family! We returned home in time to spend the actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at our house with my parents.  It was wonderful to be home for Christmas!  David received many cool gifts from his grandma and grandpa!  The best gift we received as a family was a bike trailer!  Now we can go biking again!  I'm so happy! I had a hard time figuring out what to do for David's first Christmas ornament, so I decided to incorporate this bike trailer into things, because it definitely marks our first Christmas in my memory!  This is what I came up with: Tomorrow I can finally finish it by sewing it together with some fabric.  I love it! David's stocking is complete, and if he were awake, I would set him next to it for a picture!  I'll save it for tomorrow because you never wake a sleeping baby!  :) The inner liner is handwoven pinwheels made of perle cotton.  It's nice and soft for little hands to go digging into this stocking! What a fun project! By the way, this little fellow is an over-achiever, too.  He grew 4 teeth in a matter of a few days! 12-10   12-13 (Sorry about the up-close snot nose pic... apparently some kids are lukcy enough to get really runny noses when they grow new teeth!) Whew!  It's been a rough few days, and I'm glad we're almost through the worst of it!  :) He's been chewing on everything!! "nom nom nom"  

In our family, stockings are serious business. When my sister's kids were born back in 2001 and 2002, I made it my job to make their Christmas stockings!  Here they are years and years later, hung by the fire with care... I knew as soon as I got pregnant, I would need to make my baby a stocking.  I fretted about it for MONTHS because I took it so seriously!  I thought I needed to come up with a completely original idea, but my hubby kindly reminded me that I could repeat a Rudolph or Frosty and nobody would know!  So, I went with Rudolph!  Here is the pattern I drew up: I was so happy when I came up with this idea!  I decided to do wool applique, and in order for it to stay together even better, I used some of the iron on stuff that would stick the two layers together.  I used it for everything but the snow.  Hopefully the snow will stay on ok!  Here is the outside finished: The outside is made of 100% wool, but it's not my handwoven wool....
